I always thought when I first started traveling how nice it would be to have some sort of universal packing checklist to avoid forgetting anything important. So, I decided to devote a post to just that. See below my vacation packing checklist! Additionally, I have attached a PDF file (Vacation Packing Checklist), so that you can print for your own personal use. Of note, I did not include clothing items on the list as what you pack in that respect will inevitably depend on your destination and its climate. Happy travels!
- Passport (International Travel) & Vaccination Record (if required, depending on place of travel)
- Copies of Passport to carry with you during the day
- Driver’s License and/or International Driver’s License (if renting a car and this is required)
- House keys
- Flight Confirmation Numbers, Flight Itinerary, and Boarding Passes
- Confirmations for Hotel(s), Rental Car(s), Tours & Activities booked in advance, Dinners booked in advance
- International Currency and/or Cash
- Credit Cards
- Travel book(s) and maps
- Any medications such as Advil, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Antacids, etc. and any necessary prescriptions
- Cell phone & Charger
- Travel Adapter (International Travel)
- Camera & Camera Battery Charger
- Laptop & Charger, if applicable
- Headphones
- Eye glasses, reading glasses, and/or contacts (and solution)
- Deodorant
- Toothbrush
- Ear plugs (just in case, think: plane ride)
- Eye mask (also to help you sleep on the plane)
- Sunscreen
- Lip Balm
- Bug spray (if applicable)
- Comb/brush
- Any hairstyling tools
- Shampoo, conditioner
- Razor and shaving cream
- Makeup and makeup remover
- Sunglasses
- Baseball cap
- Card games
- Magazines (for plane ride, if applicable)
- Hand sanitizer
- Nail file (this one may seem weird, but I can’t tell you how many nails I’ve broken while traveling and have needed this)
- Snacks
- Rain Jacket/Poncho/Umbrella
